The Song Story
JOEL: Let’s be honest, it’s no secret that there’s a lot going on in the world right now. One could even say at points the world has been (and is) on fire. This song is flipping that phrase on its head. This to us represents this idea of being bold, brave, powerful, optimistic, hopeful.. because there is so much to live for and because God has given so much opportunity and beauty in the world, too. To step out into that bright, bold, beautiful future is really what this song represents for us.
TAYLOR: My grandmother was always such a stickler on the message of taking the light that God has put within us and making lasting impact with other people we come in contact with, to be that city on a hill that everyone can see and boasting on who God has called us to be. To actually making lasting impact on people we come in contact with.
LUKE: We all grew up singing the song “This Little Light of Mine, I’m gonna let it shine.” It’s such a beautiful song, especially when kids are singing it. But one of the things we’ve forgotten to ask ourselves as we get older is, is that little light growing? How much brighter is it actually becoming as we grow up? Our hope is when you listen to this song you ask yourself, how bright is my light? We hope for us and for you, that light will continue to grow.
JOEL: It’s simple but it’s profound, and with all the mixed messaging in the world today I think the greatest witness we can be- for God, for each other, for love, for hope, for joy, for peace- is actually just literally living it out for the world to see. We hope you’re encouraged by it. I heard someone say “I’d rather be ashes than dust.” So lets go burn.

The Lyrics
VERSE 1
Hey mama, you’ll be proud
Cause I finally found the truth
And it seems like all your prayers
Yeah they finally got through
I been caught up in my head
Tryin to fight that deja vu
Thought that I was at the end
But now I’m living on the moon
PRE CHORUS 1
I know this heart got power
These eyes got power
This love got power
This touch got power
Said this heart got power
These eyes got power
I feel it in my veins
I’m dancing every day (like)
CHORUS
I am finally alive
I’m gonna set my world on fire
I will never dim my light
I’m gonna set my world on fire
This ain’t no magic
This is for real, no plastic
This ain’t no magic
I thought I never could have it
I am finally alive
I’m gonna set my world on fire
So watch me burn
VERSE 2
Hey mama, you’d be proud
Cause I’m fin-ally in tune
And I’m feeling like a child
Like a life I never knew
caught up in my heart
There’s a peace that I can’t shake
They could try to burn me down
But I see God inside the flame
BRIDGE
this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine, bright, bright, bright (repeat)
