The Song Story
Stacking Stones is my testimony of God’s faithfulness; how He showed up for me in my darkest hour. In 1 Samuel 7:12 Samuel sets up a stone and declares, “The Lord has been faithful thus far.” My prayer for this song is that it would encourage you to look for the ways God has been faithful in your story; to invite you to stack stones of remembering how the Lord has walked you through. When we remember our faith is strengthened. The same God who helped you then is helping you now.

The Lyrics
VERSE 1
Wandering through the wilderness
I thought I could deal with this
But I’m coming up with empty hands
Your goodness always chasing me
Finds me like a melody
That I can sing again
PRE-CHORUS
But I just lose my mind so easily
Forget how good you have been to me
CHORUS
I’ve been stacking stones, remembering
You have never failed me
With me in my darkest hour
I’ve been tearing down my idols
Worshipping in the wild
Cause you have been faithful this far
I’ve been stacking stones
VERSE 2
Looking at my history
Doesn’t make it hard to see
You were in the details
The screaming and the searching
The questions and the ‘certains’
Every part of the story I’ll tell
CHORUS
I’ve been stacking stones, remembering
You have never failed me
With me in my darkest hour
I’ve been tearing down my idols
worshipping in the wild
Cause you have been faithful this far
I’ve been stacking stones
BRIDGE
One for the way you love me
One for calling me out of that pit
One for the hope and the healing
One for the promise and then you did it
One for the miracle
One for the dry and desert road
I won’t forget, you’ll do it again
I’ll keep stacking stones
BRIDGE 2
One for the song you gave me
One for the testimony I got
One for the pain in the waiting
One for the joy and the hallelujah!
One for the freedom
One for the heavy chains you broke
I won’t forget you’ll do it again
I’ll keep stacking stones
TAG
No, I won’t forget
You’ll do it again and again
I’ll keep stacking stones
