Sometimes, we promotion folks need to chill. I’ve spoken to several radio programmers in the past few weeks who are overwhelmed at the pressure they feel coming their way. If that’s you, I want you to know that we see you. You have so much music coming at you. You have a strategy and a process. You have metrics you and your station value and those things are what makes a song move up or down in rotation. In the music business, we have our own metrics we value and sometimes everything aligns in beautiful symmetry so that a song can climb the radio charts. Sometimes it doesn’t align.
We know that pressure isn’t going to help. Shaming you won’t move a song up in rotation. The story is all that counts…YOUR research, YOUR strategy, YOUR mission, YOUR preference (this is part of it…let’s be honest about it). We can’t control these moves up in rotation. But YOU can!
