The Song Story

“Who Else” came out of a writing session at Gateway with Abbie Gamboa from UPPERROOM and Josiah Funderburk and Zac Rowe from Gateway Worship. Inspired from one of Pastor Robert Morris’s sermons about the role of Christians in the order of creation, Josiah came into the room that day with just one line, “I am an instrument of exaltation.”

Josiah shares, “As we began writing, we talked more and more about the idea that the angels are exalting the Lord for all eternity, but only we can bring a song of praise for how Jesus has rescued and redeemed us. This revelation inspired us to write a song that would help people recognize their place in creation and pour out a song of worship to the Lord that no other creature can bring.”

From the first time “Who Else” was led at Gateway, we realized that the Lord was doing something special with it. The lyrics resonated immediately and put language to something our people had been longing to sing, helping everyone find a posture of praise to pour that song out to the Lord, singing, “Who Else is worthy? There is no one, only You Jesus.”
