This song was born out of a cry to God after my dad was diagnosed with ALS and quickly went downhill in his battle with the disease before passing. I was easily going through the worst season of my life; I felt angry and confused and a lot of times my prayer time consisted of nothing more than, “God, I need you”. I needed him to show up when I was feeling numb, when I felt alone, and when I felt hopeless. This song ministered to me and my family through that season and provided words to emotion we couldn’t always convey. My prayer is that it provides hope for anyone who is listening in the midst of their hardship and suffering and reminds them that God draws near to the broken-hearted.
