The Story Behind “Yes I Will”
Psalm 34 says I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise will continually be in my mouth.
But, if we’re honest with ourselves, sometimes the heart doesn’t feel like God is so good right now. Our soul feels uncertain about so many of the promises that we’ve read in the Bible. So when we reach to try to praise, we can’t find anything because our emotion is blocking our volition. Our brain is getting in the way of our heart. When that moment arrives, we have to choose whether we’re in the valley or on the mountaintop, and our sight is not so fixed when we can’t make out what’s happening up ahead. We have to reach down past our emotions, past our intellect, and say I choose to praise.
